More than half of workers forced to return to office plan to change jobs: ResumeBuilder

More than half of employees mandated to return to the office by their employers are searching for new jobs, according to a report by ResumeBuilder. Of those surveyed, 18% are currently looking for a new job, while 36% plan to look for one this year.In addition, many of those currently searching for a new job are doing so actively. Temporary staffing revenue decline continues: Pulse Report

Temporary staffing revenue fell by a median of 5% year over year in February among staffing firms taking part in SIA’s latest Pulse survey. This decline mirrors the 5% decrease reported in the previous Pulse report covering December 2023.

The Pulse survey also examined temporary staffing revenue by staffing segment.

Locum tenens posted the only positive median revenue growth at 15%. Growth was flat in eight segments: office/clerical, IT, allied healthcare, finance/accounting, engineering, legal, life sciences and engineering. Direct hire revenue was also flat year over year. On the flip side, the travel nurse staffing segment once again posted the largest decline, down 16%, followed by per diem nursing and industrial, down 10% and 7% respectively.

AI references now appear in 14% of tech job ads: Dice

An analysis of tech job postings by job board Dice found that 14% of all listings in February referenced skills related to artificial intelligence or machine learning, up from 9% in the previous year.The total number of open AI and machine learning jobs rose to 60,784 at the beginning of this year, an increase of 8.5% from 56,018 at the start of 2023. Male freelancers earn 58% more than females, study says

New data reveals that, on average, men earn 58% more than women from freelancing. The pay gap varies by profession and can reach up to 135% in some fields, according to a study by Solar Staff, a global HR tech firm. The study, aimed at supporting the representation of women in freelancing, analyzed the salaries of 100,000 male and female freelancers to identify the presence of a gender gap in contract employment.

Despite efforts to address it, the gender wage gap persists across the spectrum and the globe. Various sources in the report indicate that women working as full-time employees earn, on average, between 12.7% and 21.8% less than men. That said, Solar Staff’s hourly rate statistics indicate an even wider gap, highlighting the issue’s relevance for both full-time and hourly workers.

Half of temps worked remotely in 2023

Half of temporary workers say they worked remotely at least some of the time in 2023, according to a new report by Staffing Industry Analysts. However, some occupations with the highest use of remote work have seen it decline, while some segments with least use have seen it increase.The North America Temporary Work Survey 2024 found that 51% of temporary workers worked remotely, with 36% saying they “worked an entire assignment remotely” and 15% saying they “worked an assignment partly remotely....

Nearly a third of retirees in US eye gig work

Nearly a third of retirees in the US said they are considering temporary work, according to a survey by Indeed Flex. The rising cost of living is the driving force behind the move.
The survey reveals that a third of retirees are considering one to three shifts of temporary work per week. Additionally, 42% of working seniors who have never retired are considering adding temporary work.
Of those considering temporary work, 71.6% cited the cost of living as the driving factor.
The temporary staffing platform also reported a 70% jump in its active user base for job seekers over age 62 last month, compared to active accounts from January 2024.
